After a year of answering bread questions, my best advice: 10 Tips for Bread Bakers

A loaf of sourdough toasting bread.

My dad likes to say: "Time flies whether you are having fun or not."

I'm not sure if this is a British-ism or something he invented, but I don't think I've felt its truth so much as this year.

What a wretched year it has been. But my how fast it has flown.

Truly it feels like yesterday the children descended off the bus and sprinted up the driveway, commencing the longest spring break known to man. It still astonishes me how quickly they accustomed to wearing masks, how we all did, how we all adjusted to keeping our distance, to staying at home.

But almost every day I wonder: when I see my dear friends again, will we bear hug the way we once did? And with strangers, will we ever shake hands again? Or is this new normal really the new normal? Like forever? I suppose time will tell.

I do know this: about a year ago to the day, the whole world began baking bread. In all of my years of blogging, I have never answered more questions on a single subject, and in doing so I learned a lot along the way.

I've compiled my 10 biggest tips for bread bakers in a new blog post, and I'd love to hear your thoughts: Did you have any big bread-baking revelations or "aha" moments this year? Please share in the comments.
