Tuesday 3 November 2020 Closed ACT-Accelerator Facilitation Council meeting The ACT-Accelerator Facilitation Council was established in September to help realise the ACT-Accelerator vision: the rapid development, scale-up and equitable distribution of COVID-19 vaccines, therapeutics and diagnostics, underpinned by relevant strengthening of health systems. The Council provides political guidance, advocates with external stakeholders and monitors resource flow and progress in delivery. Friday 6 November 2020 Joint statement by WHO and the International Coalition of Medicines Regulatory Authorities Look for a joint statement by WHO and the International Coalition of Medicines Regulatory Authorities noting that in the midst of a pandemic, and in the lead-up to novel therapies and vaccines roll-out, global collaboration is of the utmost importance to keep patients and trial volunteers safe. Rigorous scientific standards of review and oversight must be maintained, while still giving patients access to safe and effective medical products at the earliest time possible. National COVID-19 Intra-Action Reviews The week’s second media briefing on COVID-19 (6 November, tbc) will include highlights from countries that conducted a national COVID-19 Intra-Action Review (IAR). An IAR aims to promote real-time learning for course correction and improvement of national and sub-national COVID-19 preparedness and response. This includes sharing best practices and experiences by countries that conducted an IAR as advised during the 4th meeting of the International Health Regulations (IHR, 2005) Emergency Committee on the COVID-19 outbreak, convened on 31 July 2020.
