FDA Advises on Pulse Oximeters and Oxygen Concentrators

If you are using a pulse oximeter to monitor your oxygen levels and are concerned about the reading, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) advises you to contact your health care provider – and not to rely only on a pulse oximeter.

Additionally, the FDA also advises people not to use an oxygen concentrator at home unless it has been prescribed by a doctor or other health care provider. You may do harm if you give yourself oxygen without talking to your doctor first. You may take too much or not enough oxygen.
