Tasks of the IGWG will include drafting and negotiating an annex to the WHO Pandemic Agreement on the Pathogen Access and Benefit Sharing (PABS) system to enable safe, transparent and accountable access and benefit-sharing for PABS materials and sequence information. A/IGWG/1/1 Wednesday 9 July WHO EPI-WIN Webinar: managing the heat: strengthening public health preparedness for mass gatherings in a warming world 9 July 2025 13:00 – 14:15 CEST -Virtual meeting With summer 2025 expected to bring new global temperature records, the increasing frequency and intensity of extreme heat events poses an urgent challenge to public health—particularly in the context of mass gatherings (MGs). From cultural festivals to religious pilgrimages, and from national elections to major sporting events, millions will gather outdoors under potentially hazardous environmental conditions. In this webinar, countries actively preparing for large-scale public events—Tanzania, Qatar, Mexico, and Malaysia (TBC)—will share their approaches to risk assessment, surveillance, and community engagement in the face of extreme heat. The session will also serve as part of WHO’s Beat the Heat flagship initiative, aimed at protecting health during heat events and building cross-country collaboration on climate-resilient mass gathering planning. The brief aims to map and identify best practices for AI application in traditional medicine, document, and showcase global examples on how AI technologies are being applied in the field of traditional medicine, highlighting effective approaches, innovative solutions, and lessons learned from different regions and contexts.
