Police on Tuesday captured a man suspected of firing gunshots into traffic on I-10 and fleeing to a Tempe Marriott resort, where he shot two people. The suspect was identified as 34-year-old Jesus Enriquez-Gonzalez. Watch the full report.

Officers initially responded to calls about a male motorist waving a gun in traffic on I-10, with one vehicle reportedly struck by gunfire. The gunman abandoned his vehicle and ran to the nearby Marriott.

At the hotel, the gunman ordered two employees to the ground, fired several shots that hit them, and attempted to carjack a female motorist.

Police responded quickly and arrested the man without further incident. None of the gunman's victims sustained life-threatening injuries, authorities said.

A meeting between Gov. Katie Hobbs and Taiwanese President William Lai Ching-te in Taiwan highlighted a partnership already benefiting Arizona's economy and tech industry.

Lai, noting Taiwanese semiconductor manufacturer TSMC's plan to invest an additional $100 billion in Arizona, called the deal the "best model" to build computer chips that don't rely on Chinese producers.

Taiwan and Arizona are working to build a "non-red" supply chain that excludes suppliers from China, he said.

After its initial investment of $65 billion, TSMC recently pledged the additional money to build three more chip factories, a research center, and two packaging facilities in Arizona.

Article Icon 1Finches May Offer Clues on Alzheimer's Detection

University of Arizona neuroscientists published a study detailing how aging songbirds might offer insights on how to speed the diagnosis and treatment of Alzheimer's and other human neurodegenerative disorders.

Zebra finches have brains similar to humans in appearance and speech function. Also like humans, they develop their vocal patterns by mimicking their parents and other birds.

In the study, researchers recorded the songs of 36 birds of different ages and monitored how vocal behavior and gene expressions associated with singing began to change in aging birds.

Scientists hope the findings will lead to advances in early detection and treatment options for human diseases such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's, which are known to hinder vocal production in their early stages.
