Australia: Livestock and Products Semi-Annual

Australian beef production and exports are forecast to reach record levels in 2025, building on the record export results achieved in 2024. This situation is similar to 2014 and 2015, when strong U.S. demand was driven by herd rebuilding leading to similar peaks in beef production and exports for Australia. The projected record production and exports for 2025 are largely due to an elevated female slaughter rate. While live cattle exports are expected to remain relatively stable in 2025, competition from Brazil may pose a potential disruption. In the pork sector, Australian production is projected to grow by four percent in 2025, marking the fourth consecutive year of expansion. This increase in production will help meet rising domestic demand, fueled by a growing population, while exports are also expected to rise.

Bangladesh: Oilseeds and Products Annual

The installation of Bangladesh's Interim Government in August 2024, has led to a renewed focus on macroeconomic stability, which will enable increased exports to the market as restrictions on Letters of Credit ease as foreign currency reserves stabilize. For marketing year (MY) 2025/26 Post forecasts higher soybean imports to meet the demands of the animal feed industry. Bangladesh continues to expand domestic oilseed production with both rapeseed and soybean production forecast to increase in MY 2025/26.

China: Updated Feed Ingredients Catalog Open for Public Comments

On March 4, 2025, China's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (MARA) announced an updated Feed Ingredients Catalog. It is soliciting public comments until April 3, 2025. The updated catalog included new feed ingredients of different varieties, fermented feed definitions, and materials. This report provides an unofficial translation of the catalog. Stakeholders should conduct their own review of the catalog and submit comments as necessary. At the time of the publication of this report, China had not notified the catalog to the WTO.

China: USA Dairy Pork and Poultry Registrations Renewed while Beef Remains Overdue

On March 15 and 17, the General Administration of Customs of China renewed or extended the facility registrations by five years for approximately 14 U.S. dairy, 210 U.S. poultry, and 365 U.S. pork establishments. The establishments had been listed as "overdue" or were about to be "overdue" at the beginning of April 2025. As of March 18, at 12:00 p.m. GACC has not updated its website to remove the "overdue" language for approximately 386 of the 654 U.S. establishments registered to export beef and beef products to China. In 2024, the United States exported $1.6 billion in beef to China, making it the third largest export destination for American ranchers and agribusiness. China was the United States' number three market for pork, poultry, and dairy in 2024 as exports were $1.1 billion, $0.5 billion, and $0.6 billion respectively. Additional non-tariff barriers continue to disadvantage U.S. meat, poultry, and dairy exports to China.

Ghana: Ghana - Halal Overview - 2025

Coastal West Africa's Ghana shows signs of possibilities for expanding imports of halal certified food and agricultural products. It evidences promise thanks to the increasing number of halal product consumers in country and in the region. While halal certification is not currently required by the Ghanaian government and its regulatory agencies, Ghanaian Muslim organizations and third-country certifiers are strengthening capabilities and promoting certification. With a sizeable, growing Muslim community already present, there is potential further expansion over time.

Honduras: Sugar Annual

Sugar production and exports are projected slightly up in marketing year (MY) 2025 (October 2024 to September 2025) because of the increase in productivity yields, harvested area, and additional investments made in the sugar sector and increased exports. In MY 2023/24 there has been an increase in productivity in crop areas mainly due to modernization, better and more efficient irrigation systems, new technologies that allow precision agriculture, and the recovery of areas affected by the changing climate.

Indonesia: Purr-Plexed in Indonesia on Pet Food

In Indonesia, the pet food market (especially for cats) has seen remarkable growth, increasing 24.5 percent to reach $237 million in 2023. To gain insight into this promising product category amid reduced market share for U.S. pet food, FAS Jakarta partnered with Food Export Midwest/Northeast and a prominent consultant. The attached report includes an in-depth survey and market intelligence related to Indonesian pet food production, supply, distribution, and policy. In addition, while not directly analyzed in this report, FAS Jakarta also sees opportunities for exports of U.S. pet food ingredients, including corn, chicken meal, corn gluten meal, soybean meal, and fish meal to fuel the Indonesian pet food manufacturing industry.

Ukraine: Ukraine Joins ePhyto System

Ukraine is now able to issue electronic phytosanitary certificates through the International Plant Protection Convention's (IPPC) ePhyto Solution system. This will decrease transactional costs for Ukrainian exporters and increase transparency.
