Federal law requires each state to prepare such a list, which is separate from Georgia’s own list of low-performing schools. That list helps qualify students for the state’s private school voucher program.

The federally mandated list, on the other hand, is referred to as the Targeted Support & Improvement List. The state released the 2024-25 report last week.

Schools on the list receive additional support for classrooms, staff training, and technology.

Georgians returned to stores in the days after last week’s rare winter storm—and also filled social media with their favorite weather photos.

One video captured a man using a flamethrower to melt ice in Newton County, while another showed a frozen swamp.

In the storm’s aftermath, many motorists discovered that the cars they abandoned on ice-covered roads had been towed.

Temperatures are forecast to climb midweek, with daytime highs reaching the mid-to-upper 60s across much of the state on Wednesday.

Fishing pros from across the world battled bass and each other this weekend at Clarks Hill Lake in Appling, host of the 2025 St. Croix Bassmaster Open.

You can watch the highlights of the event, which locals welcomed as an opportunity to show off Clarks Hill “and what kind of fishing is here.” The tournament also generates sales for area businesses.

Chase Clarke of Virginia Beach, Va., won the open championship and $35,000 in prize money with a two-day total of 47 pounds, 7 ounces. The event was shortened by a day due to inclement weather.
