Did you make any New Year's resolutions? After about 20 years of vowing to definitely drink more water (narrator: But she never did drink more water), I gave up in favor of picking a word for the year. After a few years of forgetting my word midway through the year, I'm back to resolutions. But calling them goals instead. Some of my 2025 goals: - Practice reframing: As an anxious person, I tend to focus on the negative. But the brain can be trained, and it's like building a muscle. The more I work at reframing things positively, the easier it will get.
- See the joy: To help us stay motivated, a work friend and I text each other an "OGT" every day--one good thing we got done that day. We added a daily MOJ--a moment of joy we had that day. It's helping me look for the pockets of happy.
- Learn to embroider: I just bought a starter kit from Clever Poppy.
- Stop licking my lips: It's a bad habit that keeps my lips chronically chapped. This will be a hard one to shake since I'm pretty sure I've been doing this for 40 years, but I'm going to try.
If you have goals (or a focus word) for 2025, hit REPLY and tell me! I may share some of them in next week's message. Our Dinner Menu - Sunday: Pasta w/ Creamy Lemon Sauce (from my Fall/Winter ALDI Meal Plan), crispy chicken cutlets, and green salads

*My friend hosted a group of us for a clean-out-the-kitchen New Year's Eve and told us to bring any holiday food or drink we wanted to get rid of. The spread included a charcuterie board with leftover fancy odds and ends, shrimp cocktail from the freezer, sourdough bread with pesto, yummy dips, and assorted Christmas cookies. I thought that was so smart! π₯ Good Reads The Children Who Remember Their Past Lives This was an article from 2024 that really stuck with me. Fascinating. And creepy! Why Later Life Can Be A Golden Age For Friendship On a lighter note, I love this idea of increasing "emotional density" as we age and am already feeling this in my life as I get older. Real Mom Nutrition in Review Here's a look back at 2024 for Real Mom Nutrition π I also showed up a lot more on Instagram Reels this year, where I shared my office makeover, Sunday food prep routine, and random collection of twist-ties. And here's a look ahead to 2025... ☀️ A 2025 mission of mine is to help you handle your biggest challenges. To that end, I'm rolling out three new things this month: A new-and-improved version of my most popular meal plan, a redesigned version of my dinner planner, and something brand new for moms of littles. Details to come! Thanks so much for being a Real Mom VIP. I appreciate you so much. Happy New Year! Best, Sally ps: I hung a string of white lights around the kitchen window to help make me less crabby about winter. It's kind of working so far... |
