Good morning! On this day in 1975, Susie Sharp was sworn in as Chief Justice of North Carolina’s Supreme Court. Gov. Kerr Scott appointed her to be a Superior Court judge 26 years earlier in 1949, making her the first female judge in state history.

NC's Most Expensive Zip Codes

A recent market report identifies the most expensive zip codes in each state, with 28480 (Wrightsville Beach), 28207 (Charlotte), and 28717 (Cashiers) rounding out North Carolina's top three.

Homebuyers in New Hanover County's 28480 zip code can expect to pay around $1,550,000 for a Wrightsville Beach oceanfront home.

Charlotte's 28207 zip code encompasses the prestigious Eastover and Myers Park neighborhoods, where homes cost an average of $1,445,000.

Jackson County's Cashiers comes in third, where homes in the 28717 zip code cost an average of $1,425,000, thanks to the surrounding lakes and mountain views.

Another recent report compared median income, investment income, and property values to determine the state's wealthiest counties. The top five were Wake, Union, Orange, Chatham, and Dare.
