| Routh Letter Details Assassination Plans Greensboro native Ryan Routh, the 58-year-old suspect in the Sept. 15 assassination attempt of former President Donald Trump, wrote a letter to “The World” detailing his plans to assassinate Trump months before the attempt took place. His letter pre-empts the failed endeavor, stating “This was an assassination attempt on Donald Trump but I failed you.” The Department of Justice obtained the letter from a witness who claims to have received it inside a box along with ammunition and other letters. The witness didn’t open the box until hearing Routh was a suspect in the attack. Routh also possessed a list of dates and venues of Trump’s scheduled appearances from August through October. Cell site records obtained by the FBI confirm that Routh first traveled from Greensboro to West Palm Beach on Aug. 14, and on multiple days and times between Aug. 18 and Sept. 15. | Staffers Exit Robinson Campaign North Carolina Lt.
