Good Morning! On this day in 2012, NASA's Curiosity rover successfully landed on Mars using a new technique called a "sky crane." Unlike previous rovers, Curiosity was gently lowered to the surface using cables by the rocket-propelled sky crane instead of airbags.

You may have noticed that we goofed up and sent our Florida edition yesterday, instead of the regular Flyover. Whoops! Sorry for the confusion. Markets Continue to Slide

Markets fell severely on Monday, highlighted by the seven most valuable U.S. tech companies losing about $1 trillion in market value.

Monday’s decline began with Japan’s Nikkei falling 12.4%, marking its worst day since the 1987 Black Monday crash. In the U.S., the S&P 500 dropped 3%, the Dow plunged 1,033 points, and the Nasdaq decreased by 3.4%.

Tech companies were among the worst performers on Monday as Nvidia lost 6.4%, Apple fell 4.8%, Tesla dropped 4.2%, and Super Micro Computer was down 2.5%.

The markets’ performance and a poor July jobs report have ignited concerns that the U.S. economy is slowing. Investors are worried that the Federal Reserve has moved too slowly and will need to play catch-up in cutting rates.

Google Loses Landmark Antitrust Case

A federal U.S. judge ruled on Monday that Google has illegally maintained a monopoly in search and text advertising markets, violating antitrust laws.

The government alleged that Google created strong barriers to entry to maintain its dominance in general search.

The court focused on Google's exclusive search arrangements on Android and Apple devices as evidence of anticompetitive behavior.

This case is part of a broader push by regulators to scrutinize big tech companies for monopolistic practices, with Google facing another antitrust lawsuit later this year focused on its advertising practices.

Hurricane Debby Lands in Florida, Moves Southeast

Tropical Storm Debby made landfall in Florida as a Category 1 hurricane, causing flooding and at least four deaths.

The storm is now moving towards Georgia and the Carolinas, with forecasts predicting up to 30 inches of rainfall in some areas. Here’s the timing of the most serious flood threats for the next few days.

Over 300,000 people lost power across Florida and Georgia, and thousands of flights were canceled.

Emergency officials in affected states are warning residents to stay vigilant and prepare for potentially historic flooding events.
