Have you ever heard of connected meal planning before?
It's the idea that your meals don't stand alone. They're not independent of each other, but rather dependent - connected - by using the same ingredients.
In connected meal planning, you PLAN to use the same ingredient in at least two meals.
This technique saves you both money and time.
- Money - You can buy one vegetable that's in-season and on-sale, and use it for multiple meals. Or you can buy one or two meats at a good price and use them for the whole week (instead of different meats every night and paying more than you need to).
- Time - You actually spend less time in the kitchen, and your cooking/prep time each week is streamlined.
Connected meal planning was KEY to getting our grocery budget under control, so I wanted to share a few of my favorite connected meal ideas that help stretch your pennies every week!
Ground Beef
- Stuffed Bell Peppers
- Mexican Casserole
- Classic Chili
Chicken Breasts
- Chicken Fajita Soup
- Buffalo Chicken Wraps
- Chicken Tetrazzini
Eggs
- Egg Salad
- Spinach and Mushroom Quiche
