Amazon's biggest sales event of the year—Prime Day—happens next week. But if you review and write about gear on the internet like I do, it's been Prime Day for over a month already.
My colleagues and I have already been combing through Amazon to find early deals on the kitchen gear we love, because we know some of the best deals start early. It's nice to get your sale-shopping done before the hubbub of the main event so you don't have to comb through the pages and pages of bad deals to get to the good ones. (You won't have to do that, anyway, if you stick with us. We'll be wading through the junk to find the best kitchen deals on the actual day of the event, too.)
Here are a few of my personal favorite early deals—the ones I might actually shop myself, since I'll be busy on the day of the event.
Blenders for Peak Smoothie Season
Despite testing and loving them for years, I've never been able to justify a Vitamix. Instead I use our test-winning personal blender, the Zwilling Efinigy, since I typically make smoothies for just one person. Could $150 off the 5200 model finally convince me? Quite possibly. You can also get a refurbished Explorian model (which has a slightly less powerful motor but is still great) for 16% off. BTW, the Zwiling is also on sale for 40% off right now, so get it if you need a small blender!
Portable Induction Burner
I have a sub-par electric rental stove, so I'm always flirting with the idea of getting an induction burner and pretending I'm cooking for one of those hands-and-pans Buzzfeed videos of a bygone internet era. Plus, induction cooking is some of the most accurate, quickest, and environmentally sound you can do. This one won our product test and is 27% off.
A Kitchen Towel Refresh
These utilitarian guys can be used for drying your hands, yes, but they're also a powerful kitchen tool. Use them to dry herbs, to grab hot pans, and to shape and cover dough. And that's not all. They're essentially washable cheese cloths: wrap tofu, shredded zucchini, or beets in these things and squeeze all of the moisture out for maximum crisp. P.S., I think we figured out why my old set is stained.
