Konnichiwa! Have you checked out the new "Pantry" page on the site? I have many recipes for staple Japanese pantry items organised on the page so you can make them at home yourself like panko crumbs, curry roux, and dashi. For any ingredients that are difficult to find outside of Japan, I try to grow it myself ๐. Yuzu is my favourite citrus but I have never seen them sold anywhere in Tasmania. So I bought a plant and it is finally fruiting. I can not wait to use it soon in my Japanese cooking!
The popular Eli Katsu Sando is something you can make easily at home! This Japanese sandwich is filled with crispy panko-crumbed shrimp patties, shredded cabbage, and flavorful tartar sauce. You can even make your own Shokupan milk bread loaf with my recipe to make a truly authentic homemade ebi katsu sandwich!
Onigiri is a popular Japanese food made with rice and various fillings, such as this salted salmon. It's the best selling item at convenience stores in Japan because it's healthy, filling, affordable, and portable. It's such an easy food to make at home to eat as a snack or part of a main meal or to pack in a bento box!
My name is Shihoko. I moved to Australia many years ago from Japan and I missed the food so much that I decided to create my favourite recipes at home and share them with you too.
