World Health Day 2024: “My health, my right”
+ High-level dialogue between WHO DG + UN High Commissioner for Human Rights
This year’s World Health Day on Sunday, 7 April, 'My health, my right’, champions the right of everyone, everywhere to access quality health services, education, and information, as well as safe drinking water, clean air, good nutrition, quality housing, decent working and environmental conditions, and freedom from discrimination. At least 140 countries recognize health as a human right in their constitutions, but more than 4.5 billion people were not fully covered by essential health services in 2021. More about health and human rights; access the campaign page.
On Monday, 8 April, a High-level dialogue between WHO Director-General, Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, and the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Mr Volker Türk will mark the 75th anniversaries of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the World Health Organization. This event will look at how to continue to advance human rights for health, even in the face of serious emergencies. More info and registration
