A gorgeous restaurant & bar set over two floors with two bars, separate restaurant space with luxury unique VIP Boxes for private hire. Sheffield's Ultimate Social Experience that hosts a number of gaming opportunities - with augmented reality darts, pool tables, shuffleboard, arcade games and Sheffield's first exclusive Virtual Reality pods that allow up to 4 guests to immerse themselves into a virtual world, taking your gaming experience to a whole new level. Oh this place also boasts 35 screens showing live Sky Sports, so there's definitely something for everyone.
We have visited Panenka a few times now; with a group of foodie friends to try our their food, for Bottomless Brunch and more recently for their new Mix & Match midweek offer (which I won via an Instagram competition- keep reading for more info!). I have enjoyed the food and drinks I have had at Panenka on all visits. I will say that in my experience this place is either really busy or very quiet (unfortunately) - but it has so much to offer, so I hope that it carries on being successful.
Panenka is open daily and is located at the entrance to New Era Square, a hub of restaurants, bars and cafes and just minutes away from Bramall Lane Stadium and London Road.
We first had the pleasure of dining at this fairly recently opened venue on a Sheffield Foodie Socials event, and we thought the food was great. The place itself is aesthetically pleasing with dining downstairs plus bar area and arcade games whilst upstairs features the "ultimate social gaming experience" including Augmented Reality Darts, pool, shuffleboard, VR pods and Karaoke booths as well as another bar area surrounded by TVs.
Since then we returned with a couple of friends for their Saturday bottomless brunch and I have to say, they were "proper on it" with the drinks! You will be served Prosecco for the table AND asked which of the selected drinks you'd like to order - and the staff were always keeping a check on us for our drinks orders.
More recently I won a competition for 4 people to go try out their new Mix & Match midweek offer, which includes a main, side and drink from a selected menu for just £18 (available Monday to Thursday). For just £10 you can also add 2 hours of gaming! Bargain. We had some lovely food and enjoyed an hour of pool and an hour of Augmented reality darts, which was a bit temperamental but was great competitive fun. We've also tried a bit of shuffleboard previously (I was completely rubbish) and think it's great that the basketball machines downstairs are free to use.
Food we have enjoyed at Panenka;
Duck Gyozas (Small Plate) with hoisin sauce - these were really tasty.
Crispy Belly Pork Bao Buns (Small Plate) with plum sauce & kimchi - these were big Bao buns and the belly pork (which was more of a THICK piece of bacon) was divine, paired with the sticky sauce; I was a fan!
Korean Fried Chicken (Sriracha Buffalo) with sidewinder fries & Asian slaw - LOVED this chicken and the Sriracha Buffalo flavour was on point.
Crispy Chilli Beef loaded Sidewinder Fries - not had fries like these since we went to Prague & Berlin (as in the shape) very interesting but the crispy beef was our fave dish overall, really tasty and VERY filling
Grilled Chicken Ramen Bowl - these are packed of great ingredients, and are a lovely fresh dish to enjoy. My only criticism is I think the broth lacked a bit of flavour.
Panenka Wagyu Burger -Double Wagyu beef patties, American cheese, pickles, mustard and ketchup served with curly fries - A fabulously juicy burger.
Bang Bang Cauliflower (Small Plate) served with roasted garlic and sriracha mayo. Probably the least impressive dish I have tried here, the cauliflower was a little hard and I didn't get any spice from this meal unfortunately.
Panenka is a good place to visit, there are a few things I think they need to fine tune for example being able to pay your tab upstairs and on our most recent visit we were initially charged wrong and the food seemed to take a long time even though we were the only ones in the restaurant, with some of the food coming out lukewarm. However aside from the odd mix-up, we've enjoyed going to Panenka, so would recommend it ๐ For more information on Panenka, visit their website here.
