NATIONAL PUBLIC HEALTH WEEK | | The Mississippi State Department of Health proudly joins health organizations across the nation to recognize National Public Health Week, April 1-7, 2024. | This week we'll be bringing you insight into how public health and MSDH make a difference to you and your community every day. You'll learn what we do, and how it affects you. We're about much more than flu shots and restaurant inspections! Who Are We? We're a team working for you: public health physicians and nurses, community health workers, health educators, emergency responders, epidemiologists, restaurant and facility inspectors, lab professionals, scientists and researchers. We work with individuals, neighborhoods and cities; we work with community groups, businesses and government; we work in every part of Mississippi, because every Mississippian matters, without exception. That means protecting you from health threats today, and helping build you a healthier future. We want everyone in Mississippi not just to live longer, but better. Coming Up Over the next few days we'll give more insight about our very wide range of public health activities. - Tuesday: Preventive Health and Health Equity – How we're working for health today and tomorrow for every Mississippian.
- Wednesday: Maternal and Infant Health – Giving Mississippi infants the best start in life for a healthy and successful future.
- Thursday: Regulation and Licensing – Giving you confidence that health professionals and health facilities meet high standards for expertise, care and safety.
- Friday: Communicable Disease Prevention – A core Health Department mandate that safeguards you throughout your life.
- Saturday: Emergency Medical Services, Disaster Response and Planning – The extraordinary people and systems that go into action during natural or man-made emergencies.
- Sunday: County Health Department Services – Where public health and persona health meet.
