1 June 2023 Your key COVID-19 report Weekly Epidemiological Update1 June 2023Globally, nearly 2 million new cases and over 12 000 deaths were reported in the last 28 days (1 to 28 May 2023), a decrease of 30% and 39%, respectively, compared to the previous 28 days (3 to 30 April 2023). During this 28-day reporting period, 150 of 243 (62%) countries and territories reported at least one case. The situation is mixed at the regional level, with increases in reported cases seen in the Western Pacific Region and the African Region, and decreases in deaths in all six WHO regions. As of 28 May 2023, over 767 million confirmed cases and over 6.9 million deaths have been reported globally. In this edition, we include:
