Hello reader The big news this week is kitchen related. After six years of living with an inherited falling apart kitchen, we are finally getting a new one. I have mixed feeling about this. It will be fabulous to be able to open a drawer or cupboard without the doors or handles falling off, to no longer have wonky shelves and a fridge that freezes more often than it chills. But I'm not looking forward to the disruption. Our builder comes in next week, which means we're spending this week packing everything up. Our kitchen isn't big, so he needs additional space to work. That means we have to pack up two rooms as well as give the garage a good sort out to make room for all the boxes. It's not my favourite activity, but it does give us a chance to recycle anything we haven't used since we've been here - which is a suprising amount. Are you a hoarder? Or do you prefer to keep only what's stictly necessary? Despite all the work, I do have a new recipe for you. It's a super easy one and if you can get hold of cherries I urge you to give it a go. Pickled cherries are not only a thing, but they are exquisite. They turn even insipid cherries into something irresistible. Sweet, sour and spicy, they somehow taste more like cherries after the pickling process than they did before. They enhance all sorts of meals, but they're also brilliant as a standalone snack. We've mostly been eating them with cheese, but I can't resist taking regular trips to the jar and snaffling one. Hopefully they'll keep me going through the trials of the next few weeks. I'm just off to the tile shop to choose some tiles and to the electrical shop to buy a dishwasher. I'm very excited about this as I've never owned a dishwasher before.

P.S. Please do let me know if you make any of my recipes and don't forget to star rate them. It really helps to make them more visible on search engines. I especially appreciate questions or feedback via comments on the blog posts. |
