Hello everyone! We are well into that time of the year where it's blazing hot summer days for YOU but bitterly cold for US! So for the next couple of months, I'll be flip-flopping between seriously cosy foods us and easy-breezy summer foods for you. If the main recipe is a summer one, I'll include some wintery suggestions. And vice versa!
Today's primary recipe is summer all the way. A very special recipe for a classic potato salad with a secret tip that makes it (still!) the best potato salad I've ever had, courtesy of my friends' mother. Even my mother who is a die-hard Japanese Potato Salad devotee couldn't stop eating this!
OK, I can't resist giving away the secret in this recipe...it's dousing hot boiled potatoes with French dressing so they soak up the flavour. Yes, imagine every piece of potato you see soaked with flavour all the way through AND coated in that creamy dressing!
But as I've come to learn, there are many very experienced cooks reading this newsletter so if you've got potato-salad-making secrets or advice, share them in today's recipe!
And as for "us" shivering through winter....
Some cosy classics! As I write this, I'm flicking over to check real time statistics that show recipes people are reading right now. Here are the top very wintery recipes people are using right now: Creamy Fish Potato Gratin (a new reader hit, below), Slow Cooker Beef Stroganoff Stew, Pumpkin Soup, Lentil Soup, and last weeks' Hungarian Goulash (below).
I'm especially chuffed to see the Creamy Fish Potato Gratin hit the charts! It's always nice to see recently created recipes become reader favourites rather than the same recipes that have remained in the top spots for years and years! :-)
I hope you had a great weekend! As for me, it was a busy one - full, fun, excitement filled days at the Sydney Good Food & Wine Show. I did a cooking show each day followed by a meet-and-greet/book signing. I'll share more stories in the next catch-up post but in the meantime, you can watch a little home video here and here on Instagram!
Back Wednesday with a brand new recipe that I think you will LOVE. Even fussy French Chef gave me a high five when I pulled this out of the oven - yay! Nagi & Dozer πΆ xx
Life of Dozer
I felt so bad neglecting Dozer over the weekend I made up for it with an early morning trip today to his favourite Bayview Beach back in the northern beaches where we lived until recently. He's completely pooped and has spent the rest of the day in this position:
