Due to file your confirmation statement?

Every company, including dormant and non trading companies, must file a confirmation statement. It confirms the information we hold about your company is up to date.

You must file a statement at least once a year, but you may choose to file more often.

If your private limited company has:

  • 1 director
  • 1 person of significant control
  • 1 shareholder

Use our new 'File a confirmation statement' service to complete your filing.

If your company does not meet this criteria, you'll need to file a confirmation statement using our WebFiling service.

Filing your accounts with Companies House

File Online

December is always a busy time with many companies due to file accounts with Companies House before the end of the month. If you're due to file your accounts with us, use our online services where possible and allow plenty of time before your deadline.

It's cheaper, easier and faster to file online. For all online filings, you'll need your company authentication code. Here are some tips on how to use your code, and how to keep it safe.

As well as taking on responsibility for your company's filing obligations, you agree to take on a range of further legal duties when you become a director. Our directors' toolkit includes some useful links and digital tools to help you understand more about your role and responsibilities as a company director.

England to move to 'Plan B'

In response to the new Omicron variant of coronavirus (COVID-19), the Prime Minister has announced that England will move to 'Plan B' as set out in the Autumn and Winter Plan.

Moving to Plan B will help to slow the spread of the Omicron variant, reduce the chances of the NHS coming under unsustainable pressure, and allow time to deliver more boosters.

  • From Friday 10 December, face coverings will be mandatory in most indoor settings, including shops. There will be exemptions where it's not practical, such as when eating, drinking, exercising or singing.
  • From Monday 13 December, those who can work from home should do so, reducing contact with others. Employers should discuss working arrangements with employees. Anyone who cannot work from home should consider regular testing to manage risk to themselves and others.
  • From Wednesday 15 December NHS COVID Pass certification or negative lateral flow test will be mandatory in venues where large crowds gather (4000+ outdoor unseated, 500+ indoor unseated, any venue 10,000+).
  • More information on daily contact testing will follow, to keep people safe while minimising disruption to daily life.
  • Vaccines still provide the best protection against the virus, and all over 40s are now eligible for booster vaccines.
