STATS FOR STORIES (SFS)

Today is the Opening Ceremony for the 2020 Summer Olympic Games. Sunday is Parents' Day, Puerto Rico Constitution Day, and Culinarians Day (thank chefs and cooks). Enjoy Summer 2021 and National Ice Cream Month. Be prepared during the 2021 Hurricane Season.

Tokyo 2020 Olympic Summer Games: July 23-August 8

The games are 339 events across 33 sports: new are karate, surfing, sport climbing and skateboarding (baseball/softball returns). Tokyo is the world's most populous metropolitan area with 37.4 million people. The USA has 2528 medals in current games (1896-2016).

National Parents' Day: July 25

Of the 63.1M parents living with their children <18, 78% lived with a spouse, 15% had no spouse or partner present. The rest lived with a cohabiting partner.

Puerto Rico Constitution Day: July 25

The 2020 Census counted 3,285,874 people living in Puerto Rico on April 1, 2020, a decline of 11.8% from the 2010 Census on April 1, 2010, a period of 10 years.

Culinarians Day: July 25

The 2019 American Community Survey estimated 409,007 chefs and head cooks and 1,279,709 cooks ages 16 and over were employed in the U.S.

National Ice Cream Month: July

The 2018 County Business Patterns program reports that the ice cream and frozen dessert manufacturing industry had 433 establishments and 21,464 paid employees.
