HOME AND COMMUNITY-BASED SERVICE (HCBS) PROVIDERS

 

The Office of Aging and Disability Services (OADS) is pleased to announce another new resource available for HCBS providers on the OADS HCBS Trainings and Resources webpage.

Maine HCBS Sample Rental Agreement has been posted to the OADS HCBS webpage located under HCBS Sample Policies.

As a reminder, the OADS HCBS Training and Resources webpage includes a number of materials for providers, case managers, and individuals/families/guardians including:

  • HCBS Rights Modifications and Choice of Non-Disability Specific Settings, including Frequently Asked Questions
  • Sample HCBS Policies
  • Maine's HCBS Provider Manual 2021
  • Genni Sasnett's webinars including:  
    • Be the Change You Want to See, Provider Agency Transformation
    • Community-Based Support as a Pathway to Employment
    • Full Community Engagement
  • Dr. Angela Amado's webinar series and resources including:
    • The Importance of Relationships with Community Member: Introduction to the Overall Approach
    • Planning-What to do to Support Community Connections and Relationships
    • Using the Friends Manual

Additional training modules, to be completed in 2021, have been added to the College of Direct Support for Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) including:

  • HCBS 101 presented by Speaking Up For Us and Disability Rights Maine
  • Employment First presented by Lisa Sturtevant, OADS

The Department believes these additional training modules viewed by DSPs with individuals they serve will prompt some valuable discussions around community integration and competitive integrated employment.
