We live in volatile times. Around the world, concerns about democratic backsliding, political polarization, and rising authoritarianism have been exacerbated by the impacts of the pandemic, which have widened social inequalities and amplified threats to economic and civil liberties. In the face of these worrisome trends, can think tanks be a source of stability and help restore trust in institutions by fostering policy reform and social cohesion?

A new study by FP Analytics, supported by the Atlas Network, examines this issue by looking at the impact of democracy-building, free market-focused think tanks, and their effectiveness in advancing locally driven reform initiatives. Join us as we launch the report and highlight its key findings. A panel of experts and practitioners will share ideas about the evolving role of local think tanks amid the changing global landscape, lessons learned in response to COVID-19, and what think tanks should do to remain constructive and relevant in tackling the world’s biggest challenges.
