Refresh your cocktails, with and without the hard stuff. Summer nights are made for these!
Michigan summer is so hard won that every day feels like a reason to celebrate. Family togetherness, time on our great Great Lakes, dawn to (very late) dusk. It's joy defined! We love glasses of wine (check out one of my first posts, all about wine glasses!), and then plenty of other fun finds its way from the bar with all of the self-appointed mixologists in my crew. Fresh Mint Slushies are dreamy both virgin or hit with a little vodka or gin. Lemonades are my niece's specialty: Strawberry Lemonade or Fresh Mint Lemonade are favorites and fun to make. No one has ever been anything but thrilled when handed my sister's Orange Blossom Gin Fizz or her Hemingway Daiquiri, so fitting here in Hemingway country. Use simple syrup all over the board (sugar doesn't dissolve easily, so sugar syrup is used to sweeten drinks), and know that stirring jam into a spritzer gives a quick blast of flavor.
