The easiest bread you will ever make.

Turn your kitchen into a bakery!

Hello,

Do you fear yeast? Do you dread kneading?

Fear no more. Dread no more. If you can whisk and stir, you can bake bread. It's that simple, I promise. Anyone can make bread. Really good bread.

My Mothers' Peasant Bread is the easiest bread you will ever make.

It's a no-knead, no-mess, and nearly foolproof recipe. Over the years, thousands of people have attributed this recipe with conquering their fear of yeast and credited it with giving them the confidence to get bread on the table any day of the week.

"I don't know Alexandra personally, nor her mother, but their recipe has become a cherished part of my family's life."

— Celeste Ng, author of Little Fires Everywhere

I make this bread every weekend. My husband would like to thank you, my children would like to thank you. I had never made homemade bread before. Wonderful bread every time. THANK YOU!

My Mother's No-Knead Peasant Bread

Here it is. The no-knead bread recipe my mother has been making for 40 years, the one she taught me to make 20 years ago, the recipe I published on my blog in 2012, the recipe that launched my cookbook: Bread Toast Crumbs.

It's truly the easiest bread you will ever make.

I've made a lot of bread in my 59 yrs but this is just so darn cool!!! Tastes so good as well!!! I love that you really never touch the dough!! Couldn't be easier. Oh my word, this is delicious!!! The butter in bowls gives the crust a delightful crunch while the inside is soft and delicious!!!
— Carol

I have made this recipe once per week for 4 weeks. I asked my family if they were getting sick of it. They are VERY honest! They said "are you crazy, we want it more than that!!"

What you need to make this bread:

You likely have everything on hand to make this bread — if you have a whisk, a spatula, and a bowl, you're good!

I do, however, highly recommend purchasing one tool in particular, which will make all of your baking nearly foolproof: a digital scale. You can read more about why investing in a digital scale is important here, but if you're ready to dive into the wonderful world of bread baking, you could invest in a Peasant Bread Kit, which includes all of the essentials:

  • My favorite digital scale
  • A Dot and Army cloth bowl cover
  • A GIR spatula
  • A signed copy of my cookbook, Bread Toast Crumbs, which includes the original peasant bread recipe plus 40 variations and 70+ recipes for using the many loaves you bake.

There are two versions, one of which includes two 1-qt Pyrex bowls, the perfect size for making many of the loaves in Bread Toast Crumbs.

And shipping is free!

If you haven't taken one of my free, 5-day bread making courses — or if you have a friend who might like it, in which case, please forward this email along — here is where you can sign up:

PS: On Sunday, January 17th, I've teaching a live, virtual cooking class: Bread Baking Made Simple. Would love to see you there!

Happy Cooking,

Alexandra Stafford
