Homesick Texan subscriptions, an update

Two years ago, I launched the Homesick Texan subscription program to keep the site running. Ad revenue had sputtered, and I was using my savings to keep Homesick Texan going. At the time, it appeared to be an odd and controversial step. That said, many of you have taken a chance, and I am honored.

The idea was to keep most of the site free for all, with subscribers simply gaining access to additional recipes. Some of these have included a chili-cheese enchilada casserole, green chile roast chicken, South Texas baked flautas, and Grandma's pumpkin dessert. Here's the full delicious roster, with many more fun dishes planned for 2021.

The program has worked, as its revenue brings in half of what is needed to maintain the blog. If you'd like to join, I've kept the pricing the same since I began, with the entry-level subscription $25 for the entire year, about the cost of lunch for two. A subscription also makes a fine gift!

As always, I'm grateful for your support. Whether it's by participating in the subscription program, or linking to posts, leaving comments, or sending me an email, sharing recipes with you is such a joy! Thank you for being here!

Mexican coffee shortbread

Tender, buttery shortbread is one of my favorite sweets. And when you add coffee, orange zest, cinnamon, and vanilla to the basic recipe, you have a snappy, lively cookie that will not only melt in your mouth but also bring you joy. A batch of Mexican coffee shortbread is a fine snack, dessert, or gift that is wonderful for the season.

I love cheese straws—a savory shortbread cookie made with cheese. They are always a hit at parties and never fail to impress those who haven't tried them before. A box also makes a welcome holiday or hostess gift.

Pralines are a classic Tex-Mex pecan candy, and this version is both crisp and creamy, with each bite dissolving into sweet, nutty satisfaction. Simple to make and perfect for sharing. Praise the pralines!
