❤️I'm voting for cake.

Hey There,

That's it.  I'm voting for cake!

Joking aside, election years have always been contentious, but in early America, they were also cause for celebration. People from all over the countryside would join together in town centers for festivities surrounding the elections.

And there was cake.  HUGE cakes.

Cakes brimming with spice, dotted with dried fruits and sweetened with just a bit of sugar and molasses. They were also leavened with wild yeast.

In fact, cake was such a central aspect of the process, that they were dubbed "Election Cakes."

And in case you have a hankering, I've posted the recipe for you here: Election Cake.

While this year is filled with turmoil and uncertainty, at least there's cake. ❤️
