Aftermarket lighting devices blog post published

We've published a blog post on the compliance requirements for aftermarket lighting devices fitted to vehicles, particularly HGVs.

What this covers

The guidance explains the legal requirements for:

  • vulnerable Road Users (VRU) signs
  • digital LED eye displays
  • blue warning beacons

Why this matters

We've seen an increase in non-compliant devices being fitted to vehicles.

While many operators fit these devices with good intentions, some do not meet the requirements of the Road Vehicles Lighting Regulations 1989 and could result in enforcement action.

What you need to do

Read the full guidance on our Moving On blog post to understand how to stay compliant and what steps to take if you have non-compliant devices fitted to your vehicles.
