24 to 30 April World Immunization Week WHO, UNICEF, Gavi and partners are marking World Immunization Week from 24–30 April 2026 with a joint campaign, "For every generation, vaccines work," calling on countries to sustain and expand vaccination coverage at every age. A joint WHO, UNICEF and Gavi press conference to update on the progress since the launch of the Big Catch-Up initiative, was held on 23 April. Saturday, 25 April World Malaria Day On World Malaria Day 2026, the World Health Organization joins partners to launch the campaign: "Driven to End Malaria: Now We Can. Now We Must." This is a rallying cry to grasp the moment—to protect lives now and fund a malaria-free future. More information: here.
27-28 April TB Vaccine Accelerator Forum WHO will host the first global Tuberculosis Vaccine Accelerator Forum from 27-28 April 2026. The Forum will bring together global, regional and country-level health leaders, stakeholders, funders, representatives of TB Vaccine Accelerator working groups and other vaccine development partners to review progress made, from product development through to implementation preparedness for novel TB vaccines for adults and adolescents. 27 April to 1 May Resumed sixth meeting of the Intergovernmental Working Group (IGWG) on the WHO Pandemic Agreement The resumed session of the sixth meeting of the Intergovernmental Working Group (IGWG) on the WHO Pandemic Agreement will be conducted in a hybrid format from 27 April to 1 May 2026. The outcome of the PABS annex negotiations will be submitted to the Seventy-ninth World Health Assembly in May 2026 for its consideration. In May 2025, the World Health Assembly adopted the WHO Pandemic Agreement and established the IGWG to undertake several tasks, including, as a priority, drafting and negotiating an annex to the WHO Pandemic Agreement on the Pathogen Access and Benefit Sharing (PABS) system. This multilateral system will enable the safe, transparent and accountable access and benefit-sharing - on equal footing - for PABS materials and sequence information. Tuesday, 28 April 2026 Global Hepatitis Report The 2026 Global Hepatitis Report will be launched on 28 April at the World Hepatitis Summit in Bangkok, Thailand. Despite being preventable and treatable, viral hepatitis remains one of the leading infectious disease killers worldwide. The report provides the latest global assessment of hepatitis B and C, which together account for over 95% of deaths from viral hepatitis, analyses trends and progress from 2015 to 2024, and highlights critical gaps and opportunities to accelerate progress towards elimination. The report will be launched at the Summit's opening press conference at 12.00 ICT / 05.00 GMT / 07.00 CEST on 28 April 2026. Thursday, 30 April State of inequality in childhood immunization 13.00 CEST, webinar Over the past decade, WHO has produced a series of global analyses of inequalities in immunization, including a global report on the state of inequality in childhood immunization. A recent article, published in Vaccines, provides the first comprehensive global update in nearly a decade on within‑country inequalities in childhood immunization, assessing trends across up to 92 countries, areas and territories. The findings will be discussed in this webinar featuring experts from WHO, UNICEF and Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance. Further information and registration: here.
