Wuhan is known for its breakfast scene but most of the food items are either deep-fried (greasy) or carb-heavy. I used to not mind having some occasionally but over the years I've become less and less of a fan of Wuhan-style breakfast. Here are two of the classic breakfast items - mianwo (deep fried dough ring) and deep-fried "rooster-crown" dumpling, so named because of its resemblance to the crown on the rooster's head. You'd really need some congee or soy milk to complement these if you don't want to feel too greased up or carbed up by the end of the morning...!
