I know we're only a few days into it, but Fall better start feeling like Fall. Because Sunday I raked leaves in my yard in 88 degree weather. And I don't put up with cold, dreary Winter days in Ohio only to get gypped out of a Hallmark-movie-worthy Fall! At least it's feeling like Fall in my kitchen. Instead of waiting for sweater weather (even light-cotton-sweater-weather), I've gone ahead and turned the page from lighter meals to heartier stuff. I'm baking sourdough bread again, which means my counters are covered with all manner of fermenting doughs and bubbly starters. And I'm making dinners to go along with all that bread, like soups and stew and pasta. I have a new recipe on RMN which feels very Fall to me. Even though we eat it year-round. I try to keep a package of chicken sausage in the fridge so I can make it when I need something fast and easy. It's flexible, so you can use the kind of sausage (even veggie sausage) and vegetables your crowd prefers. It's all drizzled with a maple-thyme dressing.
