Former President Donald Trump directly appealed to women Saturday at Wilmington’s Aero Center, saying he would be a better champion for them than Vice President Kamala Harris.

Supporters lined up hours before the outdoor rally began.

Trump addressed the crowd from behind bulletproof glass. He didn’t rule out the idea of a third debate but also stated it may be too late since early voting has started in many states.

A new Carolina Journal poll has Trump and Harris virtually tied in North Carolina.

Trump did not reference North Carolina’s Republican gubernatorial candidate, Mark Robinson, who is embroiled in a scandal. Robinson did not attend the rally.

A suspicious package containing a white, powdery substance was sent to the North Carolina Board of Elections this week. Emergency crews tested the substance, and no one was injured.

North Carolina is one of 20 states that received the packages.

NCBOE Executive Director Karen Brinson Bell says her staff is now wearing gloves while processing the mail and isolating parts of the office when they find a suspicious item.

Last November, similar envelopes were sent to offices in five states, with four testing positive for fentanyl.

Article Icon 1 NC Author Publishes Clues to 5 Treasure Hunts

North Carolina native Jon Collins-Black spent millions of dollars purchasing various treasures, divided them into five boxes, and hid them across the United States.

Collins-Black, who grew up in Iredell County and attended UNC-Chapel Hill, has written a book scheduled for release on Oct. 21 called There’s Treasure Inside that offers clues for where to find the bounty.

The author worked with experts in several fields to create the treasure packages, which are worth millions of dollars. Items include shipwreck bounty, sports memorabilia, gold, precious metals, rare gems, historical artifacts, and more.

The treasure boxes were custom-made by a blacksmith, who worked on them for over a year. You can view a video and photos of the treasure on the author’s website, and preorder the book here.
