CQC has published its findings from its report into the impact and experience of CQC regulation on ethnic minority-led GP practices. While the limited data within the health and care system meant that it was not possible to establish any relationship between ethnicity of practice leadership and ratings, this work has identified contextual factors which can disproportionately affect ethnic minority-led practices and their ability to demonstrate how they provide good care. In this podcast we discuss the findings and recommendations of the CQC's GP Inequalities Project, which looked into the concern that GPs from an ethnic minority background receive poorer CQC ratings or outcomes. Reducing health inequalities in areas of deprivation We are joined by special guest Dr Farzana Hussain to discuss the CQC's Regulators' Pioneer Fund Project, which is looking at reducing health inequalities in areas of deprivation through better regulatory recognition and the sharing of best practice. GP practices and the impact of health inequalities Joined by Dr Bola Olowabi, Director of Health Inequalities at NHS England and Improvement, we discuss what we mean by health inequalities, why it's so important to focus on them in health and social care, and the role of providers, systems and regulators in addressing them. 19th January 2022 saw the return of our 'Because We All Care Campaign' to encourage more people to speak up and feedback about their or a loved one's care. Jointly developed by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and Healthwatch England, it initially launched in July 2020. The campaign has already resulted in over 50,000 people sharing their experiences. Information which has helped inform how CQC regulates services, as well as the recommendations Healthwatch has made at a national and local level to professionals about service improvements. If you're able to we would appreciate your support for the campaign using a stakeholder toolkit. This toolkit includes a range of materials to help you support this important campaign through your communication channels. We have updated our information about on-site visits for primary care dental services. Site visits give us an opportunity to talk to people using your services, your staff and other professionals, to find out about their experiences. They allow us to review how you deliver care and to see how people's needs are identified and managed, both within and between services. Site visits can be announced or unannounced. The NHS Chief Sustainability Officer's Clinical Fellow Scheme offers clinicians with a passion for sustainability a unique opportunity to help build a greener NHS and improve health now and for generations to come. Successful candidates will step out of clinical practice for 12 months to work with NHS senior leaders and teams on key projects that will accelerate progress towards a net zero health service, while strengthening their leadership and management skills.
