An update on CQC's regulatory approach from February

The independent regulator of health and social care in England CQC Update A regular update for providers and professionals working in adult social care. 27 January 2022 CQC's Regulatory Approach I'm writing to share an update on our regulatory approach, which we have reviewed to take account of the current context and the lifting of national restrictions from 1 February. From February, we will focus our activity on services where there is evidence that people are at risk of harm, where we can support increasing capacity across the system and identifying good practice that we can share to drive improvement. For Adult Social Care services this includes: Achieving our ambition to complete 1000 infection prevention and control (IPC) inspections in adult social care   Rapid response to requests to set up new Designated Settings.  Activity to rate adult social care services that are registered and not yet rated.  Inspections of adult social care providers currently rated as Requires Improvement to identify where improvement has taken place and re-rate where possible.   I want to thank everyone working in social care for all your hard work ensuring people receive the care they need. Latest projects on citizen lab To support the delivery of the ambitions outlined in our new strategy we are developing a single assessment framework, consisting of quality statements, that will replace our current Key Lines of Enquiry (KLOEs) and associated prompts.  We also plan to use 'I statements' as the starting point for our assessment framework, taking the important first step towards truly regulating through the eyes of the public. We've developed three surveys to gather your views: Quality statements (safe and effective) Quality statements (caring, responsive, well led) I statements  Other news From 1 April 2022 all individuals undertaking CQC regulated activities in England must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. The deadline for people to receive their first vaccination is 3 February 2022. You can find more information on our role on our website. London Fire Brigade service have written to care homes in London about fire safety considerations during pandemic. Care homes based in London are encouraged to read the letter. Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) have shared their latest newsletter for social care colleagues, read and sign-up for the newsletter.
