Mississippi COVID-19 Update May 27, 2021 Vaccinations   Free vaccinations are happening Saturday in Port Gibson. Drop in, or make an appointment. Schedule and locations Homebound persons can get help with COVID-19 vaccination by sending e-mail to COVIDHomebound@msdh.ms.gov More than 890,000 people have now been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in Mississippi. All Mississippians aged 12 or older are now eligible for vaccination. Find a free walk-in or drive-through vaccination at an MSDH vaccination site. Drop in, or make an appointment ahead of time. Tests may have been made on previous days, and represent individuals who became ill a week ago or more. Repeated tests for the same individual are counted only once. COVID-19 related deaths reported to MSDH from hospitals, medical examiners and coroners as of 3 p.m. yesterday. Both of these deaths occurred between May 15 and May 25. Variant Strains 554 cases of COVID-19 from five variant strains have been reported in Mississippi as of May 21. Variant strains report   Long-Term Care Facilities Active outbreaks: 19 An outbreak is considered any confirmed COVID-19 case among LTC facility residents or employees. Total COVID-19 cases: 317,276 Total COVID-19 related deaths: 7,304 Cases by Date of Illness This chart tracks COVID-19 cases according to the date the person first became ill, rather than the date of test results. It's the standard way of following the course of a disease in a population. The black average line helps identify upward or downward trending. (In the few cases where date of illness has not yet been determined, testing date is used.) Since we are still receiving reports of illnesses that began up to two weeks ago, expect the more recent dates on this chart to change. Deaths by Date of Occurrence What You Can Do Be vaccinated.
