 Sunday is the 150th anniversary of the District of Columbia Organic Act of 1871, which repealed the charters of Georgetown and Washington City and created the first government for the whole federal district.  February is American Heart Month.

Washington, D.C. 150th Government Anniversary (1871): February 21

The City of Washington was founded in 1791 to become the national capital. On February 21, 1871, President Ulysses S. Grant signed into law the first single municipal government for the District of Columbia.
