I always love Super Bowl Sunday, not for the big game (I'm a college football girly), but for the snacks. When else can I eat spinach artichoke dip for dinner? It's my favorite food holiday of the year. On the menu tonight, beyond dip: Our Cowboy Butter Chicken Wings. Tossed in a sauce of herbs, garlic, paprika, and Dijon, you won't miss buffalo.
As you know, shrimp will now be making a more frequent appearance in my house. Up this week: Patty's Honey Garlic Shrimp, which I'll make a meal with our delicious and so easy butter-roasted sweet potatoes. Next up are perhaps *the best* meatballs we've published on the site: Bola Bola. With grated onion, garlic, and carrot, these Filipino wonders get serious depth from oyster, soy, and fish sauce.
We'll get cozy with our copycat version of Olive Garden's beloved chicken gnocchi soup, which tastes like the real deal. I'll serve it with garlic bread, but (yes) breadsticks are obviously always an option. I'm always wondering why I don't make pizza at home more — I just love my local joints so much! — so I'm going for our Veggie Supreme, which bakes right on a preheated sheet pan (supreme crispiness) and has a ricotta-pesto sauce. Say less! |

Ease is always the priority. I aim for recipes that rely on familiar ingredients I already have in my pantry and drawers, and don't require too much hands-on cooking time. (Fortunately, you'll find a lot of these on The Kitchn!) Novelty is important. Cooking dinner night after night can be relentless — I gotta feel excited by what's on my plate, whether it's a new flavor, ingredient combination, or simple technique to save some time. I eat pretty much everything. I change up my proteins throughout the week with chicken, seafood, beef, and pork making frequent appearances. And there's always room for pasta! That said, I'm not in my spicy era. I have two little boys — 3 and a half years old and 10 months — so my picks will mostly be recipes that shy away from too much heat. |
