| Hello friends, and welcome to my "What I've been loving" series! The truth is, I started The Almond Eater over 10 years ago, and since then, blogging has changed a lot. I miss writing, and I miss sharing my life with you all. I'm planning to share these emails once a month, so you'll get a glimpse into my life and a few items I've purchased and enjoyed. If you don't care about my life (no offense taken), just don't open the email. You'll still get plenty of tasty food recipes sent to you! LIFE THIS MONTH - Last month was very low-key, so much so that I'm not even sure I have 5 things to share with you all. Like many people, we experienced a lot of snow (I believe somewhere around 18 inches), which made going outside kind of impossible.
- ...Except that I get incredibly stir crazy, so the day after the snowstorm, Emmy and I went to Target and there were probably 5 total people in the store including us. It was weirdly fun to have the store to ourselves.
- Because of my job and the fact that I cook so much, I don't always do a ton of meal prep over the weekends. But, I've found that prepping a few very simple things, like my peanut butter protein overnight oats and my air fryer sweet potatoes is helping me eat healthier throughout the day.
- We took Emmy to the Science Center for the first time. Miguel and I hadn't been in forever and we wanted to check it out, but ultimately decided that it's geared more toward older kids and that the Children's Museum is more her speed.
- Ok that's literally it! I don't even have 5 things to share because we've just been hunkering down and staying in for the most part. I hope you've been staying safe out there!
THINGS I LOVED THIS MONTH - Avenlur kitchen tower: This is probably the most-used item that Emmy got for Christmas. She eats her breakfast every morning while standing in her tower, and then afterward I fold it down and she sits at the desk and colors. It's lightweight, so transferring it from the kitchen to the playroom is easy, and it's also really easy to clean.
- Electric hand warmers: If you live somewhere cold, you need these! I'm someone who finds gloves cumbersome, mostly because I hate having to take them on and off to pick up after my dog on walks. These are great because they keep your hands very warm, almost to the point where you don't really need gloves (though they're actually the best if you put them in your coat pockets).
- Root touch up: This stuff is great for touching up your roots, especially if you get grays. I like using it between hair appointments, when my grays start coming in but it's not quite time to get my hair fully colored again.
- Wide toe shoes for me & wide toe shoes for toddlers: I've said it before and I'll say it again, once you go wide toe shoe you can't go back! These are incredibly comfortable, and your feet don't feel smooshed in them at all because there's plenty of room for your toes. I own 2 pair, and so does Emmy!
- Striped cardigan: I got this in navy and blue striped, and when I say it was love at first try on, I'm not kidding. It's incredibly soft, and looked good over a t-shirt or tank, or simply buttoned up and worn as a sweater on its own.
That's it! Thanks for the support and happy February! -Erin |
