| | February 28, 2026 | Edition #185 | Hey, Hoophead! | For almost every ranked team, the regular season wraps tomorrow with the arrival of the most important month in college basketball. And while it's all but guaranteed that a group will finish undefeated this season, the top of the standings is getting very interesting at just the right time. | Meanwhile, Unrivaled continues to bring the best out of the pros. And off the court, the WNBPA offered another revenue-sharing concession Friday evening. A new CBA could be nearing, but is something quietly being overlooked? |

| | | | | The 'Big' Salary Cap Illusion |
| | We've seen it all at this point. | Players publicly blasting the league. Little visible movement from either side. Rumblings of division among players. And now, the union dropping its revenue-share ask to 26% of gross revenue. | That shift comes after several prominent WNBA player agents sent a letter to the WNBPA demanding involvement in resolving the CBA negotiations. The list of players represented by those agents raised some eyebrows, as it includes names like Caitlin Clark, Paige Bueckers, A'ja Wilson, and more. Check out the full list here! | But what happens if the union actually agrees to the league's current proposal? | A $5.65 million salary cap would represent a massive leap from the $1.5 million teams have been working with. Big numbers, right? | Until you actually dig into the math and realize there's a flaw! | While the top-tier stars stand to benefit significantly, the mid-level and role players could still find themselves fighting over limited resources. Because the supermax would sit around $1.13 million, a clean 20% of the $5.65M cap. | Take the Indiana Fever. If Kelsey Mitchell signs that deal, one-fifth of the cap is gone. Add the pricier rookie-scale deals, plus Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston's contracts. And what does that lead to? Fan-favorite role players like Lexie Hull and Sophie Cunningham could suddenly become much harder to keep. | And mind you, this is just one example. Probably still the simpler math compared to the Aces, Liberty, and Lynx, the "superteams" stacked with vets who'll be eyeing supermax deals of their own. | This is precisely why the players are pushing for a salary cap closer to $9.5 million. For now, though, the two sides are still nowhere near the same page. |

| | | | Concern Grows over Aliyah Boston |
| | After two months of nonstop Unrivaled action, the playoff stage is finally set. | But there's a slight concern for the table toppers. Phantom BC have forgotten what losing feels like. They're currently riding a seven-game winning streak, with their latest victory coming against defending champions Rose BC. | But that's not what fans are buzzing about. Phantom closed out the 72–68 win without Aliyah Boston, who missed the entire fourth quarter with no clear explanation yet. The only silver lining is that Boston was seen walking off the court without assistance. | Plus, this after-game clip might calm a few Fever nerves. | Elsewhere, NBA superstar Kevin Durant was in attendance Friday to watch the Unrivaled doubleheader. The Houston star has long been a vocal supporter of women's sports and has even gone on record saying he "loved the concept of Unrivaled." And the 3×3 league didn't disappoint him. | When Monique Billings rose for a dunk attempt in the Hive BC–Lunar Owls clash, Durant couldn't believe his eyes. | If Durant thought he'd already seen the highlight of the night, the next game proved him wrong. Dominique Malonga soared above the rim and threw down a dunk against Laces BC, giving KD a front-row reminder of exactly why his faith in women's hoops has always been justified. | As for the game(s), the Lunar Owls secured an 84–71 win over the Hive, while the Laces took down the Breeze, 65–53. | "Boooo!" | | | | Final Buzzer on the Regular Season |
| | Finally, we've arrived where legacies are built, and dreams are broken…. the business end of college basketball. | Before we open the gates to the madness, we still have a few battles left, though. To brighten your Sunday, the Big Ten regular season champions, the UCLA Bruins, square off against their crosstown rivals, the USC Trojans. | Anyone who watched the Bruins last season knows that the Trojans were their Achilles' heel. But this season, it's a different story. Without JuJu Watkins, USC isn't the juggernaut we saw last year. Yes, Jazzy Davidson is putting up outrageous numbers, pulling off a feat NO OTHER Division I player has managed this season. | And yet, the Trojans now find themselves on a two-game losing streak. Even when these teams met earlier this season, UCLA blew out USC, with Lauren Betts delivering a double-double masterclass. | So tune in this Sunday at 3 p.m. to see whether the Bruins keep rolling or if the Trojans have a surprise in store. | Next up, we're headed to the SEC for another must-watch showdown. The South Carolina Gamecocks face a Kentucky Wildcats side hungry to take something from this matchup. | The Cats are currently locked in a three-way tie for sixth with Ole Miss and Tennessee in the SEC, but a loss to South Carolina on Sunday could drop them out of the top eight entirely. Something they'll be desperate to avoid. | However, standing in their way is a South Carolina team riding a nine-game winning streak, and Dawn Staley has even hinted at a crucial return to the starting lineup, which could make an already daunting matchup even tougher for Kentucky. If you're a SC fan, this is the comeback news you've been waiting for! | That said, we've still got several other matchups worth keeping an eye on. | No. 5 Vanderbilt vs. Tennessee No. 9 Iowa vs. Wisconsin No. 4 Texas vs. No. 24 Alabama No. 19 Ole Miss vs. Texas A&M No. 7 Oklahoma vs. Missouri No. 18 Baylor vs. No. 11 TCU No. 1 UConn vs. St. John's

| | | | Tom Brady Jumps on the Caitlin Clark Bandwagon |
| | Trading cards are now the ultimate fan flex, and only a few names carry more weight than Caitlin Clark, who led all active basketball players this year with more than 136,700 graded cards. | The craze is so real that even Tom Brady couldn't resist, officially joining the Caitlin Clark collector club. The NFL legend showed off a very rare Clark card on Instagram, and CC returned the love with a repost. | Wondering which one it was? Go see for yourself. | Moving over to the college basketball world, an emotional moment stole the spotlight when North Carolina took on Virginia. | Facing your own daughter on the court is emotional enough. For Coach Joanne Aluka-White, that was already the case as she prepared to coach against Virginia's Gabby White. But Gabby took it a step further, honoring her mom's fight against breast cancer before the game tipped off. | Moments like this remind us that sports aren't always about wins and losses. This might tear you up a little! |
