On this day in 1983, Air Canada Flight 797 made an emergency landing at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport after an in-flight fire killed 23 people. The tragedy led to new aviation safety rules, including mandatory smoke detectors on commercial aircraft.

Wright State Baseball Shocks No. 1 Vanderbilt

Wright State baseball pulled off a historic upset Sunday, eliminating top-seeded Vanderbilt from the NCAA regionals—the earliest exit ever for a No. 1 overall seed.

After surrendering a 3-0 lead and losing to Vanderbilt on Friday, WSU bounced back with a win over ETSU before defeating Vandy 5-4 to avenge its earlier loss.

The Raiders advanced to Sunday night's regional final against Louisville, where they would need to win twice to move on to the super regionals.

Meanwhile, Miami (Ohio) and Cincinnati were both knocked out in the Knoxville Regional. The RedHawks went 0-2, while the Bearcats picked up one win before losing twice.

Scheffler Repeats at Memorial Tournament

Scottie Scheffler won the Memorial Tournament for the second consecutive year at Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, finishing 10-under par across four rounds.

Ben Griffin led after the first round with a 7-under par start, but Scheffler's consistent play—posting rounds of 2-under, 2-under, 4-under, and 2-under—sealed his second PGA Tour victory in three weeks.

Griffin, Sepp Straka, and Nick Taylor rounded out the top four, while Maverick McNealy and Russell Henley finished tied for fifth.

Ohio Businessman Travels to Space

Blue Origin's New Shepard rocket carried six passengers—including Put-in-Bay, Ohio, businessman Paul Jeris—to the edge of space Saturday, reaching an altitude of nearly 65 miles.

The crew experienced three minutes of weightlessness before returning and landing in West Texas.

Jeris fulfilled a lifelong dream inspired by his father's work with NASA, carrying his father's NASA and Marine Corps badges aboard the flight.

After returning to Earth, Jeris celebrated by flashing an O-H-I-O gesture upon exiting the craft. You can watch the moment here.
