School's out, the first watermelon of the season was a winner (I cut it into sticks, natch), and my garden is growing.
This year I planted cucumbers, tomatoes, beans, lettuce, and tomatoes.
Some years (read: most), my enthusiasm fizzles by August, when the veggies are actually ready to pick and eat.
This year I've committed to giving part of our harvest to the neighborhood food pantry, which welcomes homegrown donations.
Hopefully this will inspire me to weed and water and stay engaged when the inevitable mid-summer drought and heat wave leave me feeling wiped up.
Here's a peek at my little raised bed:
We also have more potatoes in a few grow bags along the garden and a standing herb garden with an assortment of herbs.
