As well as showing where these deaths are happening and varying levels of progress around the world, this will also be the first global report to capture the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on maternal survival. Notes to journalists: WHO is releasing Trends in maternal mortality 2000-2023 on behalf of the United Nations Maternal Mortality Estimation Inter-Agency Group. The report will be released on World Health Day on 7 April, which this year is dedicated to maternal and newborn health. Embargoed materials will be available to journalists on Friday, 04 April, and experts are available for interviews. Please send your request to email keenanl@who.int with a copy to mediainquiries@who.int, and note that the embargo on all content lifts at 00.30 CEST on 07 April 2025. When you join the press conference, please ensure you enter your name and media outlet (use name/outlet). When you sign in, you will be automatically put in the meeting room.
