| March for Life Held in Richmond Around 2,000 people gathered at the Capitol in Richmond on Wednesday for the 7th Annual Virginia March for Life, one of the largest anti-abortion demonstrations in the state. The event also featured guest speakers and prayer. "We stand for life, and how can it ever be wrong to stand for life?" Virginia Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears asked during her keynote address. Others spoke out against efforts to add abortion rights to the Virginia constitution. A group of 100 Liberty University students led the march to show support for pro-life legislation, a long-standing tradition of the student body. | Lynchburg Parents Protest School Closing Several Lynchburg parents urged the school board to reconsider its decision to close TC Miller Elementary School. Three parents and staff members voiced concerns during a meeting on Tuesday evening. "The uncertainty of what this school is facing not only jeopardizes the academic performance of those students, but the relationships and bonds they have made during their time here," parent Leticia Rodriguez said. TC Miller has been on the chopping block for several years. The school board previously voted to close the school in 2023, then decided against it in 2024. Now they've voted to close it again in response to declining enrollment. Under the current plan, the school would be converted to a pre-K-only facility, and current students would be redistributed between two nearby elementary schools. | Virginia Sites Designated Historic Landmarks Nine sites around the state were recently designated as Virginia Landmarks. The honorees include restaurants, houses, schools, a locomotive, and a YMCA.
A community of oceanfront Craftsman-style dwellings built between 1913 and 1928 made the list with the addition of the 37th Street Cottages Historic District in Virginia Beach. One new landmark, the Little Valley School—a two-room schoolhouse in Carroll County built in 1929—served as a white school during segregation. Also honored was the Norfolk & Western Class "A" No. 1218 Locomotive, on view at the Virginia Museum of Transportation in Roanoke. The coal-burning locomotive was one of the last steam engines built.
