The Food and Agricultural Imports Regulations and Standards (FAIRS) report provides an overview of the food laws and regulatory environment in Brazil as it relates to food and agricultural exports. This report is intended to be used in conjunction with the 2024 FAIRS Export Certificate Report for Brazil.
Brazil requires imports and exports of animal-origin products be accompanied by certificate with animal health attestations and/or public health attestations. Import requirements are defined by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAPA) and a certificate model must be bilaterally negotiated before trade starts. This report identifies the certifies and import requirements for agricultural products destined for human and animal consumption, as well as animal importation. This report supplements and should be considered in conjunction with the FAIRS Annual Country Report for Brazil.
Bulgaria acceded to the European Union (EU) in 2007 and follows EU directives and regulations pertaining to food safety, quality and standards. This report outlines legislation regarding U.S. food product exports to Bulgaria, particularly those rules which differ from EU legislation. This report should be read in conjunction with the U.S. Mission to the EU (USEU) Office of Agricultural Affairs'(OAA) 2024 EU FAIRS report. This report provides an overview of health certificates needed for exporting plants, animals, foods, and other animal origin products to Bulgaria.
On January 3, 2025, the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China (GACC) published a notice soliciting public comments on the "Regulations of the People's Republic of China on the Registration and Administration of Overseas Producers of Imported Food (Draft for Comments)." The regulations amend previous registration requirements related to GACC Decree 248. The comment period closes February 19, 2025. The amendment has not been published with the World Trade Organization as of January 7, 2025.
