Former President Donald Trump held a rally in Salem, telling supporters that the Old Dominion is in play on Tuesday.

Trump spoke for about 90 minutes and was introduced by leading Virginia Republicans, including Gov. Glenn Youngkin and Attorney General Jason Miyares.

The former president congratulated state leaders on last week's Supreme Court ruling that allowed the Commonwealth to keep some 1,600 voters off the rolls pending review by an appeals court.

Trump also invited members of Roanoke College's women's swim team to the stage to congratulate them for refusing to allow a transgender athlete to join their team. He vowed "to keep men out of women's sports" if he is reelected.

If "we win Virginia, we win the whole thing, without question," Trump told the rally.

The latest Roanoke College poll, released Friday, shows Vice President Kamala Harris holds a 10-point lead in the Commonwealth, 51% to 41%.

The Washington Commanders glided past their division rivals, the New York Giants, yesterday, winning 27-22 on the road.

Washington got off to a dominant start, holding New York quarterback Daniel Jones to zero net passing yards in the first half. After that defensive performance, the game was never really in doubt.

Rookie sensation Jayden Daniels played well again, connecting on 15 passes for 209 yards and two touchdowns.

It's the second time the team has topped the Giants this year, and the victory moved the Commanders to 7-2, good for first place in the NFC East.

Washington will host the Pittsburgh Steelers next weekend.

Federal funding is now available to residents of 17 Virginia localities that were hard hit by Hurricane Helene a few weeks ago.

Many areas are still working to clear away debris and assess the extent of the damage. As the problems became clear, many residents and organizations banded together to form the "Trails to Recovery" program to collect rebuilding materials and get to work.

The state's Agricultural Disaster Microloan Program is also offering assistance. It will offer loans of up to $50,000 at a low fixed-interest rate of 2.5%.

The Tobacco Region Revitalization Commission is also offering loans to farmers and small businesses.

Virginia Cooperative Extension said the hurricane caused more than $150 million in farm losses and agricultural damage in Southwest Virginia.
