MOT consultation: Department for Transport's response

Today, 25 January, the Department for Transport (DfT) has published its response to the consultation on modernising MOT testing for cars, motorbikes and vans.

You can read it here: Government committed to MOT modernisation as consultation concludes - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)

The outcome

After listening to your feedback, Ministers have decided that motorists will still take the first MOT test three years after buying their new car. The following MOT will continue to be taken once every year.

DVSA will continue to work with DfT to ensure that the MOT continues to be fit for the future, to keep your vehicles safe to drive on Britain's roads. DVSA will share more information about the feedback received in the call for evidence soon, and how they'll take it forward with DfT.
