The Best Charcoal Grill Is Cheap and Simple |
In the last year I've tested a lot of grills—gas, pellet, even a good electric one. They all have their merits, but for my money nothing beats cooking with charcoal. The smokey taste, the high heat, the satisfying feeling of watching a chimney turn from black to grey. The best part is that, of everything we've tested, a good charcoal grill costs the least. Weber's kettle grill is the first one I ever owned, way back before I even really knew how to use it. But even with no clue what that twisty vent thing on the top was (it's a damper past Noah; it's a damper), bringing a kettle home wasn't intimidating and didn't require a forklift. If you haven't gotten ready for grilling season yet, this is an easy, versatile way to do it. If you want to know more about why this simple little kettle is still at the top of our list, click on through to read the whole review. And if you already have one, make sure you're stocked up on everything else you need with the good charcoal and the chimney starter down below. —Noah Kaufman |
