You Should Be Buying Cheese Online |
In the Before Times, I would occasionally order wine, coffee, and hard-to-source perishables in advance of special occasions. For some reason, though, it never crossed my mind to add good cheese to my virtual cart. But when the real world practically shut down in early 2020, many food and drink purveyors were forced to rethink the ways in which they got their goods to customers—and a whole world of culinary possibilities opened up to the rest of us. No, I couldn't leave my house, but suddenly I could order just about anything I wanted to eat or drink from just about anywhere and it would arrive on my doorstep within a matter of days. As I quickly figured out, getting a box of cheese directly from a creamery feels like a special treat, because it is. To understand more about why, I sat down over Zoom with Zoe Brickley, director of communications and e-commerce at Jasper Hill. We talked DTC cheese while she led me through a guided tasting of The Diversion, a curated collection of four super-fresh Jasper Hill cheeses and perfectly paired jams.
