Hey there reader,
Please tell me how we're already approaching the first week of September. I probably say this every year, but this summer, FLEW by. A lot was going on this summer.
My kids were busy with all kinds of things - volleyball camp, dance camp, work, friends, etc. Never a dull moment.
On top of everyday work and life stuff, I was busy running the live Smoothie and Mason Jar Salad challenges in the FB group, which I must say were so fun and motivational, and I can't wait to do it again.
If you missed the live challenges, don't worry; I'll host more in the future. I'm working on a self-led healthy challenge kit that you can do on your own time in between the live challenges. That should be ready soon, so keep an eye out for that. But many OYS community members (including myself) are still sharing daily pictures to keep the motivation going, so head there if you haven't already joined.
Last week, I spent time stocking the freezer with some breakfast and dinner recipes. Today, I'm going to do more of the same. September is going to be a busy month, and having meals ready ahead of time is essential to my sanity.
How can I forget that Covid got me at the beginning of August? That was a doozy, fun times! But I don't like to dwell on the negative.
I'm looking forward to finishing out August strong and starting September ready!
Okay, let's get to our weekly newsletter.
Recipes to Try This Week.
- Strawberry Mango Smoothie. This is a deliciously creamy smoothie recipe that doesn't include bananas.
- Steel Cut Oatmeal. I made a triple batch of this recipe to freeze for breakfast.
- Cobb mason jar salad. This is a hearty salad that'll keep you full all afternoon.
- Cheeseburger Wrap. Making the beef filling on the weekend brings this recipe together quickly during the week.
- Skillet Beef and Broccoli. This is an easy recipe to make during the week, or prepare meal prep bowls to heat and eat during the week.
- Slow Cooker Turkey Meatballs. We love this recipe, and I serve the meatballs over pasta, zoodles, or in subs.
